Hi,

Asus VX7 with Windows 7 Ultimate.
BIOS is updated and won't recognize SSD unless I flash BIOS and jump right into setup.
Sometimes I need to enable UEFI and boot again just to see it show up in the disk list, making sure no other devices are connected.
Managed to begin installing windows from a DVD but when it boots up, SSD is no longer there.
AHCI enabled. Tried installing from USB, it sometimes recognizes the SSD but tells me it can't be installed there because the system doesn't recognize it as a boot device.
No cable was provided, it's the HDD-only version.
Windows recognizes the SSD when installed internally (old system HDD + new SSD), lets me format it, partition, everything, but BIOS will only sometimes recognize it and it disappears right away.

It also says (now) when I try Safe Erase that the drive is in a frozen state.

I can't really think of anything else since BIOS won't see any SDD. (I bought two for different computers and tried both 500 and 250gb. Nothing.)

Any ideas?

RMA'd the Samsungs. Had a Crucial 480 mSata delivered. Same story.
The VX7 shouldn't be unfriendly to SSDs, they're an optional.
Only thing that comes to mind is some arbitrary size limit to 128gb mas it makes no sense.

EDIT: Lo and Behold. After initializing the drive in windows, it SHOWS UP IN BIOS. There's hope.
