So, I am going to build a personal workstation rig for Animation/Video Editing...and I little light gaming :p.

So this question about ECC and NON-ECC memory compatibility has gone back and forth regarding motherboards like the...Z10PE-D8 WS and ASUS Z10PE-D16 WS.

The ECC memory I found seems legit but oh does it look god-awful.

I'm sure there is an approved list of RAM for these boards, but by my research people have been able to run NON-ECC memory on these boards.

Any helpful tips or suggested working NON-ECC memory would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
Crucial suggests that you're allowed to populate only registered ECC rams on the boards. You could get these and later add on a heatsink to mask the green PCB but in retrospect DDR4 frequency's begin at 2133MHz so they aren't going to be making any heat whatsoever.

So the whole problem with running ECC memory on a workstation motherboard is that it's ugly?

Buy heat spreaders and be done with it, or you can try to mickey mouse a solution that may never be stable, a good thing to have while rendering.
