Hello!

I run a local laptop repair shop and a client brought me his ASUS X501A laptop because some keys were not working so I ordered a replacement keyboard and everything was fine until 2 days later the client came back because the same problem happened... So I ordered a new replacement and again, the same problem with some keys not working...

When I unscrew the palmrest the keys work but when I screw everything in place the keys stop working.

I have tried using a solution with a script for the numlock but I don't think that's my issue.

Am I missing something? I have 8 years of experience changing keyboards on almost every brand.

Any help is appreciated.

P.S : The keyboard replacements are original.

I assume your replacing the KB inside the top and not the entire assembly?

I think one or more keys are jammed down due to the plastic edges on the top being distorted.

Remove the top and run a small smooth round file around the plastic edges so that the top does not place any pressure on the KB once it is fitted.

Also make sure the entire assembly is locked together flat, and check the case to make sure no small pieces of plastic are cauting the top to bend or warp when fitted ... thus the Keys are all seated smoothly ... and will pop up correctly after being depressed.

The other two KB's are probably ok.
