Asus x54c cpu replacement fail

Hey guys pardon my english..i have a asus x54c with an intel core (Way too Slow). I tried to upgrated it to an intel i3. This is the one i bought i3-2310 m 2.1GHz SR04R Mobile Socket G2. I replaced the old one no soldering, cleaned the old thermal paste, and applied some new one, although i had it for a long time, the white kind, ceramic paste. The laptop wont start just the fan going on and off, sometimes, the fan will goes fast, & steady then the same thing On and Off. I put back the old CPU and still having the same issues. Im loosing my mind. I did not update the bios so maybe thats my prob, but why isnt the Old CPU working anymore, Sorry for the Long Thread

Do a cmos reset,remove the cmos battery and try again.
