Hi folks, which would you choose between the following two laptops for light video editing (sony movie studio), web design (wordpress), web browsing, emailing and watching vids (youtube)?

1) ASUS X555UA-DM111T
-i7-6500U (2.5GHz)
-Intel HD Graphics 520
-15,6" Full HD (1920x1080)
-256GB SSD
-8GB RAM
-WiFi adaptor 802.11b/g/n
-2.3kg
-2-cell lithium ion (around 6hrs)
-Windows 10

2) ASUS X550JX-DM257T
-i7-4720HQ (2.6 GHz, Quad-core)
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M 2GB
-15,6" Full HD (1920x1080)
-256GB SSD
-8GB RAM
-WiFi adaptor 802.11ac
-2.45kg
-4-cell lithium ion (44Wh)
-Windows 10

Does it make much difference that the X500JX only has a 4th gen i7?
Thanks! D

-4-cell lithium ion (44Wh)
-Windows 10

This is better even if it is older. There isn't much difference in performance between the last few generations and it's a quad core vs a dual core, plus its higher turbo makes it better in every way besides power usage.

Thanks k1114, really appreciate your feedback!

Do you think the extra power usage would be an issue? Would there be much difference?

Also, what do you think compared with this system:

Lenovo IdeaPad Y700
-i5-6300HQ (2.3 GHz, Quad-core)
-Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M 2GB
-15,6" Full HD IPS (1920x1080)
-1TB HDD
-8GB RAM (DDR4)
-WiFi adaptor 802.11ac
-2.6kg
-4-cell lithium ion (60Wh)
-Windows 10

The differences I can see are i5 not i7, better gcard, IPS screen, HDD not SSD, DDR4 compared with DDR3 RAM (on the JX model), 60WH battery. How would you balance out which is best with these components?

Thanks again

Thanks k1114!
All the laptops are around the same price so that factor is the same.

How would you weigh up which laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 vs ASUS X550JX) is best when comparing the differences such as DDR4 vs DDR3, HDD vs SDD, IPS vs non-IPS, i5-6300HQ vs i7-4720HQ, 44Wh vs 60Wh? What's most important, and which laptop would you choose between the two? Thanks again

Lenovo IdeaPad Y700
-i5-6300HQ (2.3 GHz, Quad-core)
-Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M 2GB
-15,6" Full HD IPS (1920x1080)
-1TB HDD
-8GB RAM (DDR4)
-WiFi adaptor 802.11ac
-2.6kg
-4-cell lithium ion (60Wh)
-Windows 10

ASUS X550JX
-i7-4720HQ (2.6 GHz, Quad-core)
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M 2GB
-15,6" Full HD (1920x1080)
-256GB SSD
-8GB RAM
-WiFi adaptor 802.11ac
-2.45kg
-4-cell lithium ion (44Wh)
-Windows 10

Ddr version won't matter, you can always add a ssd, ips viewing angles are better if that matters to you but a review showed the color wasn't much better than tn, the i7 is better but the 960m is better, 60wh is obviously a longer lasting battery if you plan to use it on battery. That makes the y700 a better choice since sony movie studio supports gpu rendering and it has a m.2 slot so you can easily add a ssd and keep the hdd.

Thanks k1114! Really appreciate your guidance.

For me the better processor is more important than the better graphics card when weighing things up. I did however wonder how the integrated graphics (Intel HD) built into the i5 and i7 would interact with the dedicated graphics? My understanding is that the dedicated graphics card would kick in when more demanding programs require it, otherwise the integrated graphics run everything else (the lower level things)... is that correct or?
Thanks again!

That's great with adjusting settings in the nvidia control panel, will take a look, thanks.
Appreciate all your guidance k1114!
