Asus x58 solid Red CPU and DRAM LED

I am experiencing an issue with my Asus x58 motherboard. I was playing a game the other day and the computer froze. I had to do a hard reset and upon that hard reset the computer will not post, and upon further inspection the CPU led was solid red, however after unplugging and plugging it back in the CPU and the dram led were immediately solid. no matter what I do it will not pass. I have reseated the CPU as well as pulled out all the RAM and tried only one stick as well as the MEMOK button and nothing is working. a few months ago I did have a problem with my CPU overheating and the motherboard would automatically catch that, but since then I reapplied thermal paste and tone down the CPU maximum threading so that it can't and have not had any problems. I have also done a CMOS reset. I do notice that the heatsink on the motherboard is getting rather warm after 5 to 10 minutes
