Hi guys,
I'm planning on buying an ASUS X79 Sabretooth MB. I have some doubts in regards to the memory modules for this board. It officialy supports 8 DIMMs up to 1866Mhz.
I want 32GB of ram in it, so I am thinking to go for two of "4x4 CORSAIR 16GB KIT DDR3 1866MHz CL9 - Prod. number CMZ16GX3M4X1866C9"
Now...if I populate all the 8 slots with 4 GB dimms, would they still run properly at 1866Mhz?
I am not sure if it's worth to buy these, when I can get the "CORSAIR 4 x 8 DIMMs 32GB KIT DDR3 1600MHz CL10 Vengeance - Prod. number: CMZ32GX3M4X1600C10" at cheaper price.
There are also way cheaper 4 GB modules that are presented only as "Dual Channel ready" running at 1600Mhz.
Out of all these options, I have no idea what to choose, so any help would be appreciated.
I am planning to use the machine VMware test lab box/moderate gaming/standard workstation. I would like to get the most out of the memory as I'll have lots of VMs and other stuff running in there.
Thanks
