I recently built a new computer (first time!), but I'm having issues with my GPU. I have an Asus X99-A with an Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor. The graphics card I have is the XFX Radeon R9 295X2 8GB Core Edition Video Card.

I had to install the graphics card in PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16_3 since my CPU cooler was too big and prevented me from placing it in PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16_1, as instructed in the manual. However, the my card is now stuck running at 8x instead of 16x. Since I am only planning on running one card, is it possible to configure the motherboard to run that slot at 16x?

Solution
Unfortunately no. The V8 is a beast of a cooler, but as you know now, it doesn't tend to fit on most motherboards. The motherboard is configured to run the PCIe slots at x16/x8/x8 with the 5820K, and there's no way to change that.
