My problem is after inserting the 2 memory sticks and starting my pc for the first time it showed 16 GB in Windows and CPU-Z. I installed the memory in Slot D1 and B1 according to the manual. After rebooting and installing other software like Office. I noticed that the total amount of memory in Windows went down to 12GB. CPU-Z showed 16GB of memory. So I rebooted the pc and selected the Bios. There I saw that one of the memory sticks showed only 4GB of memory and I marked this stick with a piece of tape. I shut down the pc and checked if the memory was inserted proper and restarted the pc. Total amount of memory in Windows showed 16GB again. CPU-Z gave also 16 GB again. The next day I started the pc and again Windows showed 12 GB of memory and again it was the memory stick that I marked with a piece of tape. Repeated the whole procedure of shutting down the pc, giving the marked stick a little nudge and starting the pc and I got 16GB of memory again.

System configuration.
Asus X99-deLuxe motherboard
Intel Core I7-5820K
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16Gb DDR4, set of 2 DIMM’s of 8GB (CMK16GX4M2A2400C14).
NVidia Geforce GT960 Strix
Samsung Pro 128 GB SSD
Western Digital 1TB HD Black
Seagate 1TB HD
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
System not overclocked, runs under default settings, XMP=profile 1
Bios version 1901 (latest version)

Tests I have done.
1. I ran a full test with MEMtest86 free version. Took about 10 hours. No errors so I did not re-install the cpu.
2. I switched the 2 memory sticks, restarted the pc and again 12 GB of memory. And again it was the stick that I marked with tape. Shut down the pc, gave the marked stick a little nudge - et voila – 16GB of RAM again.
3. When I run the pc with only the unmarked memory stick in slot D1 the system works perfect. No problems.
4. Then I removed the unmarked memory stick and inserted the marked memory stick in slot D1. Initial it gave me 8 GB of memory but after a reboot it gave me 4GB of memory again. Again a little nudge and I got 8 GB of memory.
5. When the Bios gave me 4 GB of memory I started the pc with MEMtest86 and MEMtest86 reported 4 GB of memory as well.

I have screen prints of every Bios screen result but I did not post them here. Everytime when this happens it is the marked memory stick that needs a little nudge. IMO the marked memory stick is faulty and not the motherboard or cpu. Does anybody else have other ideas or tests? I would be very grateful. Regards Robert.
