ASUS X99-Deluxe not reading XMP profiles from Corsair DDR4 memory kit

I bought the ASUS X99 Deluxe mainboard with a CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4 2800 kit. The mainboard does not recognize any manufacturer information for these memory modules and X.M.P. cannot be enabled.

Is there a compatibility issue with the mainboard? Am I missing something?

I'm getting the exact same issue with my x99-deluxe. Memory has no XMP profile, no ram manufacturer and API issues with Intel's CPU test. Something to bear in mind is that the latest Intel test was released in April 2014 so it may not actually be built for x99. Hanging on there for some hope.

there is no such. System BIOS: 0902 for System Product: X99-DELUXE in the downloads asus support. so please tell me wth you guys are installing?System BIOS: 0902 for a other motherboard mybe a x79?

I got an rma from corsair...with the express they'll send you a mem kit then when you receive it you can send the defective one bacj...all they require is a credit card on file...its what i'm gonna do when they have the ddr4 in stock

Have you flipped the little EZ_XMP switch on the motherboard? It should be set to Disabled as deafult.
And if so do your ram sticks read the same in bios with the EZ_XMP enabled and disabled?

hello. what i found is, if you switch EZ_XMP to the right and the TPU switch all the way to the right(not sure if you need to switch the EPU as well but i did.)i rebooted twice and check cpu frequency in AI SUITE 3. it did change to 4.3MHZ cpu and my memory was 3800 mhz.not sure whether these readings are true.but runs good. readings from memory are weird if you look at MEmTESt 86 pic you will see it Info PC4-17000? our ram is supposed be PC4-22400.does anybody else use different memory on this x99 Deluxe board ,and does it show up correctly? PS in bios still shows up xmp disabled.

Just had a costumer come in with the exact same problem as OP.
We switched on EZ XMP (physical switch) on the motherboard.

After that it was all smooth sailing.
We ran the LPX 16gb 2800mhz kit at 3000 mhz without any issues.

I also have this issue. ASUS X99-A. I have the XMP switch set EZ mode (always have) and the 2 XMP profiles come up in BIOS correctly as 2800 and 3000. The system wants to run these sticks at 3000, but those timings are wrong. I set it to 2800, yet the system NEVER runs at that speed. 2133 or 1499MHz, that's it! I can't play GTAV! Ram too slow. I have done a full MEM86. No errors after 4 passes and 2 hours of testing. the memory is fine. the MOBO XMP is not. running latest BIOS 1702. Updated from 1402 earlier today, problem remains. I also did a full reformat of my system and loaded all new drivers,chipset,ASUS utilites from the MOBO DL site and problem remains.....
I have even had the BIos switch my XMP from 2800 to 3000 without my knowledge. 2 days ago I was in the middle of photoshop and the PC just died, black screen. Like I hit the PSU off switch. I lost most of that work. XMP was running 3000 profile #2. NO NO NO, should be #1.

I CAN"T PLAY GAMES WITH RAM THIS SLOW!!!!!! My $4,000+ 4k PC is not able to handle GTAV at 1080. WTF!

I have a Radeon r9 295x2 and an i7 5820K that was OC to 4.7HMz, it gets 4k firestrike score of 9FPS. 9FPS ladies and gents, I have the LOWEST 3dMark scores of all time. My RAM is bottle necking due to this speed issue.

After reading the thread: DID RMA the MEM sticks fix this issue?

You guys have no idea how weird my system has been acting the last few weeks. I cant play most games my Z77 HD6970 could. NOW I KNOW WHAT IT IS AND IM NOT CRZAY! its the RAM! The mem modules test OK, but they aren't bad, just running too slow and wrong timings. Ill contact Corsair to RMA.

A few things:

- your ram frequency should NOT affect your gaming performance all that much. When i just got my system i ran 2133Mhz for weeks and didnt notice any decrease in performance. Only memory benchmarks will show real difference. Actually tests have shown better results with lower frequency combined with tighter timings. 2666mhz seems to be the sweet spot for now. Your issue must be something else...

- ddr4> 2666mhz memory stability and XMP profles are a bit problematic... that is mainly caused memory multipliers availability and stability. As a result 2800MHz and 3000 Mhz are very difficult to get stable on the 100 strap. (BTW This is mainly caused by the CPU mem controller and not by the MB). With my X99-deluxe and early bios releases 2800MHz on 100 strap was just a no go and didnt post, but with later bios release it did post but resulted in abysmal memory bandwidth (probably caused by error correction). As a conclusion you should stay away from 2800MHz and 3000Mhz while on 100 strap. Either move to 125 srap (wich i don't recommend if you want to use offset or adaptive voltage) or choose different mem speed. 2666mhz works great for me on 100 strap (100 × 1.333 × 10 × 2). If you are willing to put a bit more voltage, 3200Mhz also works fine on 100 strap (100 × 1.333 × 12 × 2). You could also try 2933Mhz, it should work as well but havent checked.

Yes you are correct: The BIOS will show that the 100 strap will not work with 2800 and should auto change that field to the 125 strap when 2800 is selected. 167 did not show proper timing results, so 125 is correct for 2800. BIOS 1702 is current and latest. If you want to play with the BIOS, manually select 100 Strap again and watch the CPU freq change and throw out the 2800 profile and use 3000. I currently have the 125 strap running, 2800 XMP profile 1 is selected. but that's not what the ram is running at in real life. only 1499 or 2133MHz. even with 3000 selected, all utilities, mem86, CPU-z show different and low speed readings. Loading "ASUS optimized defaults" will not POST and throws MEM codes to MOBO readout. I usually don't OC ram, in this case Im underclocked.

The Ram being wrong speed or too slow may not sound like a big deal, but when It causes the system to crash and I lose a ton of graphic design ( I had to redo whole project) and the RAM module in C1 slot fails to show in BIOS and only 12GB of the 16GB RAM is found, its not cool. I assume the RAM in C1 was holding a lot of the Photoshop project I was working on and it did not auto recover the document. Sad Face.

Ok, not posting on optimized defaults is clearly not normal indeed. With optimized defaults AND xmp switch set off, you should always boot and all modules should be shown. If not you do have a hardware issue.

Also do keep in mind the first D in DDR implies you should multiply frequence x 2. For 3000Mhz you will actually read 1500mhz.

another thing, depending on the specified voltage, you may need to bump mem voltage just a tad to be able to pass memory training. My gskill 2800 kit rated at 1.200v didnt post at 2800mhz until i bumped mem voltage to 1.220v. Could explain why you are missing ram module(s) sometimes.

lastly your cpu isnt guaranteed to run 2800mhz or higher ram speed or at least not at stock settings. Dont forget you are actually overclocking your memory controller. Could require tuning of system agent voltage etc to get stable and performance benifits are minimal.

I really advise you to try following before rma-ing your ram. Just enable xmp 2800 profile, manually set strap to 100. Set dram/fsb ratio to 1.333 and select 2666mhz as ram speed. If required bump ram voltage to 1.220v. Should be perfectly stable on 2666. If not you should indeed try with rma-ing your ram. If possible get some gskill instead.

So Corsair got me new RAM modules. These work as they should. No errors after a week of gaming and working. All utilities, BIOS, CPU-Z, control panel etc now show correct speeds and timings. Firestrike 4k now pulls a solid 58 FPS. Was 9. All the micro studder from games like WOT and MWO are gone. Read/write speed of ram is double what it was previous. 126,746MB/Sec. 127.3 CPU strap frequency is now stable and POSTs every time. The default 100MHz CPU strap cannot be used with RAM modules above 2666, this I knew, but the BIOS would throw the system to the default 100 strap and run the old modules as 2333. Haswell-E will not run RAM freq above 2666 without changing the CPU strap to 127.3. There is also a setting I remember in the BIOS called "Advanced DRAM programing" or something like that. Make sure to enable that too. I believe it was where the ram timings are.

I would have thought that in the MOBO manual or as part of the RAM kit, it would have a notice about Haswell-E CPU strap, but no. Wonder how many rigs are running wrong RAM setup without knowing it!!!!! My rig now places on the 3DMark leaderboards... like it should!

Scary spending over $5k on a 4k machine and it runs like an x386!

My simple solution to the problem of misreporting and 'missing' ram sticks was to increase the memory voltage up to 1.3 or slightly above. The next boot all ram was there and continues through several reboots all day today. My system is X99-Deluxe/5960X at 4.54GHz with a GB of 36,000. I let AI Tweak set the Dram frequency so I did not touch any of the ram settings other than the voltage.
Additionally I did request an RMA this morning (Sunday) and got a response and RMA number back in about 1 hour so am suitably impressed. I will run the current memory for a while and if good will cancel the RMA...turnaround time given where I live would be a minimum 2 weeks one way.
And I confess that I am a noobie....
