I had a friend who builds and maintains computers help me with the following install, which worked right away:
1. ASUS X99A-II
2. 6800K CPU
3. Corsair Vengence LPX 4 x 8 GB DDR4-3000
4. BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 11 650W PSU
5. BeQueit SilentWings 280mm AIO
6. 1 SATA SSD + 2HDD + 1 Intel 600p M.2
7. MSI Gaming X 1080
8. Fractal Design R5 case
The system worked for about a week and then shut down and stopped working. I noticed that the main 24pin power connector was not "clicked" and must not have been seated properly. After reseating it and hearing the click, the system worked again ... for about a week. Until Today, when Qcode 00 appeared and the system wouldn't start-up. Case and CPU fans turn. The CPU warning LED next to the 24-pin is red. I have not done anything else other than reconnect/reseat each of the power connectors (24PIN, 8PIN and 4-PIN) with the system off. I have not taken a multimeter to any of the power connections, so I cannot say if it is PSU, MB or CPU.
Could the poor power connection in the first week cause any damage?
I would like to know if there are any tests or operations I can do to diagnose the issue. Tomorrow, I will re-run the cabling from PSU to MB, but I am not expecting this to help much. I will call my friend too.
There is an OV switch on the PSU, which I had enabled for the first week. This week I disabled it. The manual for the Dark Power Pro is not very good and suggested to only use it if it is needed. I just said that I should not switch it under power, which I did not.
