Asus Xonar DX audio pass thru to gvga GTX 660 sc

I'm picking out the parts for my first computer build and I picked out a PCI-E sound card, because I don't like on-board audio. I was wondering if there is a way to pass thru the audio to the graphic card'd HDMI port via PCI-E bus?

There should be a connection port for that. You'll need a specific SPDIF cable to connect the two inside the case, but it can be done.

I thought that they took out the SPDIF input on nvidia cards after the 200 series

I'm not sure about that, so can't say one way or the other. Maybe someone else can offer up something.

If it is the case, then you're probably looking at having to do audio over optical if you want surround sound.
