I have an EVGA x58 Classified motherboard, and had to update the bios for an unrelated reason. I've had an ASUS Xonar Essence STX sound card that worked for well over a year, but immediately stopped working after updating the BIOS. After RMA'ing the card, ASUS found nothing wrong with it, and replaced the card with a new one, which also doesn't work on my rig. In device manager, the card doesn't show up, and the PCI bridge that I have it plugged into reports an error 12.
I've contacted ASUS about the issue, and they were unable to solve the problem, offering simply to RMA the card. I spoke with the upper tier of tech support at EVGA, and they concluded that my motherboard and BIOS combination was incompatible with the sound card.
I only have PCIE slots, no regular PCI slots, I've tried the card in every slot. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, whether anyone has any ideas on how to make the card work, or has suggestions for replacement card as good as this one.
Thanks
