Asus Z-170 Pro Gaming RAM compatibility

I’m building a PC with second hand bits, the motherboard is as stated.
CPU is an i7 6700k with a 650w power supply and I’m looking to buy a h100i v2 for cooling.

I’ve been looking through the forums to see wether my build will be compatible with G.Skill Trident Z 16Gb 2x8 dual channel DDR4 3200MHz PC4-25600.
The G.Skill website says it won’t be, Pcpartpicker says it’s compatible (I know the company usually knows best but not always). Some in the forums suggest a lower MHz is compatible but my Mobo can handle up to 3300MHz.

I’d really appreciate any help I can get with this conundrum.

I’m not totally unfamiliar with pc building but there’s a ton I don’t know.

You should take a look at the Qualified Vendors List (QVL) from Asus...>here<
There are several G.Skill Trident Z 16GB models available. What's the model number of that RAM kit you found?
This G.SKILL TridentZ Kit is compatible with the Asus Z-170 Pro Gaming

That is the ram I’m looking at, F4-3200C16D-16GTZR.
The G.Skill website however said it may not be compatible, especially the lighting, but forums suggested that a recent driver update fixed that.

You should go by the motherboard manufacturer list of qualify RAM.
That Corsair stick is not listed as compatible but it should work.

There are tasks, like video and photo editing, that requires huge amounts of RAM.
I don't think for gaming you should go above 16GB, since I don't they will double the requirements any time soon.
But you would have to contact the game developer about their plans.

If you are planning on using 32GB of RAM then you should get a 32GB kit.

It will work but you could have errors specially when running in dual channel.
RAM kits are tested to work together and they have the same speed, density, timings, voltages, etc

That's the recommended solution by RAM and motherboard manufactures.
But, you could get different sticks and they could work together.
If you end up with issues, they will not help if you have unmatched RAM sticks
