hi, just built a system and all is well... except the last GPU installed is defaulting to BIOS with PCI Resource Error.... and when going to windows, only 3 are showing up in device manager.

This mobo is suppose to handle 4 cards 4x16 lanes and I tried disabling some sata ports in bios (as I've seen in some threads) -to no avail.

I also tried some different PCI settings but the difference when changing these settings is that it doesnt bomb to the BIOS and goes straight to windows but still only 3 cards available.

I dont think I need to SLI the cards to get the 4 to work but looking for some kind of direction as to what to change.

dual xeons are installed and all ram ECC memory lanes are used....

I appreciate any help - thanks in advance.

ok - I was able to solve this.... so writing it down in case someone else encounters this...

originally, when I put the 4th card - I got a PCI resource error. -

so first step I did last night after posting this question... was remove the 4th card. - now windows was only seeing 2 cards. - third card which was originally working was no longer working.

i proceeded to remove the third card and when I rebooted to windows - the system shutdown and rebooted again.. which was a little scary moment but I realized there was something else not working... back to two cards in windows on the second crash reboot....I then added the third card and it was not getting picked up... at this point, i figured something "stuck" in the bios even though...

Asus Z10PE D8 WS board makes a really nice rig except for one major problem... most of the ports are on the bottom of the board.... so using a double sized card on the last pci slot blocks the ports. so in my case, the usb3 cable being a little bit thicker bent the pins on the port when adding the GTTX 1080.... so not able to plug that which makes all my front panel case usb3 slots are not usable. ASUS does advertise 4 GPU for this motherboard but it's something to be aware about.

Are all of your 4 GPUs in 16x mode? Recently I had conversation with some guy, he states that he has 4 GPUs in 16x1x1x1x modes 😵 I, once, installed 2 GPUs and tested with VRay RT. Rendering time increased about 70-80 percents. Don't remember if they both were in 16x or not. I also found old news that this motherboard can see only 40 lanes of a CPU (with 2 CPUs installed). Have no access to my workstation now, so I can't check it.

hi, with the latest firmware.... and and upping the memory choice to 64 ( cant remember exact name right now) - cards are picked up immediately with no issues.

just a note if anyone builds on this... the last 1080 card fits tight and prevents wiring on some connections at the bottom... so I cant use a couple of usb3 ports due to this as the cable is squished. so to avoid any damage I didnt plug it... but overall, really nice build...

i dont think they are all 16, i would have to check. not near the system right now. will get back to you.

hi, how do you up you PCI settings for higher memory in Bios, i couldnt find it
