Thinking about purchasing this motherboard. I just noticed and proceeded to read some critical reviews on newegg though. One common complaint had to do with dead ram slots. I am now somewhat unsure as to whether or not this is a good board or if a certain amount of critical reviews and issues are common among motherboards. If anyone can provide me any input in this situation it would be very much appreciated. If anyone has had any personal experience with this board please feel more than free to share.

Thanks guys :)

Solution
I've done a half dozen builds on the Z170-A with no problems at all. Many of the 'dead DRAM slots' can often be attributed to the users, buying DRAM that is too fast for the CPU to handle at stock (faster DRAM often needs a bit of an OC on the CPU), people not updating to the latest BIOS, low end CPU and high performance DRAM etc. I build with K model CPUs which can normally handle up to about 2666-2800 at stock (some higher, beyond that normally need a CPU OC to help the MC (memory controller)

Solution
The memory that I plan to include in this build is 2x4GB DDR4-2400 so hopefully that wouldn't cause an issue. I am also including a K processor. I will definitely make sure to update to the latest BIOS version as well.

Here is a link to my build if anyone wants to take a peek: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/FDdv4C

I was a little surprised at first to see the complaints because I've heard so many good things about this board.

Thanks for saying so. Any preference between the Z170 Pro Gaming and the Z170-A? The PC will be using primarily for running streaming software and most likely not a ton of gaming.
