I have just built a new system and i am having trouble viewing my hard drives which are in two RAID 1 configurations along with an m.2 drive (in non-raid).
My motherboard is an Asus Z170-AR (latest bios). I also have just installed Windows 10 onto the m.2.
More specifically i want to have this configuration:
RAID 1 : 2xSamsung 850 EVO (500gb) - SSD
RAID 1 : 2xWD Blue 4tb- Rotational
1x Samsung m.2 960 (256gb) - non-raid - This is what Windows 10 will boot from
Currently in the BIOS my boot priority shows the m.2 followed by the 2 RAIDed volumes (Volume 1 and 2) however when i start Windows 10 the m.2 drive will be the only drive that appears in 'devices and drives' in "This PC" on Windows 10. However in the device manager it will show that there are 2xRAID 1 volumes, so the system does recognize the other raided drives but it wont show them in Windows 10 to allow me to access them.
I have played around a bit in the BIOS->CSM (Compatibility Support Module) to get up to the point where the RAIDed volumes appear in the boot priority in the bios (by not always knowing what im doing). Currently these are the settings:
Launch CSM: Enabled
Boot Device Control: Legacy OPROM only
Boot from network drives/storage devices/PCI-E/PCI expansion devices: Legacy only.
Another thing i thought was unusual was that the SATA mode configuration is set to SATA express and not m.2 (as this would make all the drives in the boot priority dissapear and the system would reset to the previous bios settings). For my motherboard if an m.2 is installed, SATA express is disabled. While it is set to SATA express and not m.2, i can boot and access my m.2 drive in Windows. Not sure if that info is any use but you never know.
I was hoping that someone is familiar with the bios and could help me out. Any help greatly appreciated! and sorry for the lengthy post.
Thanks guys!
