I have asus z170 pro gaming mobo.
I want to use it with trident z (2x8gb kit) on xmp 3ghz cl14:
G.Skill F4-3200C14D-16GTZ TridentZ

i didn't buy yet, because i wrote for support (to g.skill and asus too) and they said this board can't support this kit on 3000mhz.

please help me! i don't want to buy this expensive kit if can't use it on full performance,

i don't understand why can't support if :
for example z170 deluxe is support this kit

Thanks for your answer. This was the reply by g.skill support team:

""Dear Customer,

Yes, for ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING, the max ram capacity when using dual channel kit running at 3000MHz is 8GB (4GBx2).

To answer your questions:
1. The max supported frequency for ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING when running dual channel kit with max capacity 16GB (8GBx2) is 2800MHz. If you wish to run a Trident Z type memory kit with total capacity of 16GB (8GBx2), we would suggest F4-2800C15D-16GTZ, which runs at 2800MHz with total capacity of 16GB (8GBx2).
2. Please refer to F4-3000C15D-16GTZ for compatible motherboards. ""

asus support was very low quality, he linked me to g.skill qvl list..that is mean unsupport modules for z170 pro gaming

Do you think has this mobo something limit on ram speed if i use only 2 modules if i use all slot i can get higher speed?
Because i want 2x8gb maybe in the future 2x8gb more but not yet. This is the reason when i dont want to buy 4x4gb.
But you said i must overclock 6600k little bit and after that set xmp , i can boot and working all together maybe i will buy 3000, or 3200 mhz 2x8gb kit.
