ASUS Z170M-PLUS Ram support?

So, later this year I plan to get the ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING with the i5-6600k and just use all of my other parts on that mobo, but one issue is RAM, I'm not sure how RAM support works, and I don't know the brand of my ram, all I know is that it is 8 gigs of ddr3. Will it most likely work? What if it doesn't and I use it?

it will certainly not work you'll need ddr4 ram google the board it will have a qvl/support list for ram

The Z170 Pro Gaming is a great mobo, in title you say Z170M-Plus - Stick with the Pro Gaming - what CPU - the CPU is the determining factor in what data rates of DRAM you can run. With a K model CPU the 3000 and 3200 sticks seem to be the sweet spot for price to performance. Would look at DDR4 Ripjaws V or TridentZ sticks
