Hello,

2 days ago my Zotac SSD (2.5) just died. So I went to the store and bough a Samsung 970 m.2 ssd. removed my Zotac from the computer and installed the Samsung in the M.2 compartiment. Put Windows 10 USB stick in a usb port and when I try to install windows there is no drive available to install.

Went to the BIOS being sure the m.2 slot is enabled etc. Ive tried several way to do it. but no. Nothing seems to do it.

Cries.

Can someone help me out?

Solution
The weird shit I notice is the enumeration of the drive within the Intel RAID driver slot. Perhaps because the SATA Mode is set to Intel RST. Change that to AHCI /F10/ reboot. It should appear in the Boot Priority menu
Chit, its the third time this week I have to remove my custom loop and replace juice,Bleed, repeat. cries SLI blocking everything

''make sure the bottom slot is on PCIE mode and not SATA mode.''

''verify in the BIOS that the slot is set to SATA mode''

Sata mode or PCIE?

Meant PCIE mode. My mistake. The 970 evo is a PCIE interface M.2 drive it will only work in PCIE mode.

Ok thanks, yes it is set to PCIE mode and X4 and m.2 slot unable.. don't seem to work, but I can see in bios intel rapid storage devices that my 970 is recognize with the actual capacity, but I cant use it anyhow.

You might need a BIOS update if you are running an older BIOS. One of the more recent updates for that mobo fixed a "SAMSUNG M.2 device issue" which might be your problem. They don't elaborate on what that issue is unfortunately.

it looks like on your mb and mine the bios sees the drive as a raid drive. at power on hit the keys to open the intel raid controler it i and another key. when you get into it if the drive is there make a raid o drive full size. on the windows installer usb stick put the intel raid drivers and any raid drivers from samsung. when windows starts the install hit f6 and do a custom driver install.

it wont let me make a raid o with it... the ''next'' button to create the raid cant be selected even if I see the drive in the list.. it just wont let me do it.

I actually set rapid storage to off, set everything to SATA, and then it worked... I was able to install windows on the m.2 ssd. oh my oh my here is how my journey ended.. took 2 hours to install windows ? took 3 hours to update windows. took 2 sec to shut off computer and Going back in my garage working on my car and my truck and do what I am good at.
