I have an ASUS Z270-WS board with an Intel 7700K. For some reason I can't get my RAM to run above 2933 MHz. I can set it to 3000 MHz, but after a reboot the PC won't start up. It doesn't even make it to POST. It requires a CMOS reset to get going again. It's not overheating or anything. I'm using a Noctua D15 cooler. The temperatures remain quite low.

I have tried with two different sets of RAM. The first one was 3000 MHz Kingston and the other 3200 MHz G-Skill. Neither of these have any problems going to 3000 MHz in my other PC - which is running a Z170-Deluxe board.

It's not a huge problem. I can live with only being able to run 2933 MHz. It's more a matter of curiosity. I'm a bit of a newbie at this. What have I missed? :)

Solution
Anything over 2400 is a overclock setting and might require some BIOS tweaking to run that speed. You can try to loosen the timings or add a extra 0.02 volts to the memory.
