This is Asus exact description
"1.The M.2 fan holder must be able to withstand temperatures of at least 100°C — so choose your materials accordingly.
2.The fan holder is designed for 40x40mm fans, so be sure to use a fan of this size.
3.The existing case screws for mounting the motherboard may need to be replaced by a longer screw with the same thread size."

here is the link: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z270E-GAMING/3D-Printing/

The fan i bought wont fit. the edges seem to be blocking it from fitting correctly.

Did you get it to work? I am planning on printing my m.2 fan holder on Saturday. Mine is going to go in Crosshair Hero X370 though. Would appreciate an update. Or at least let us know how thick is your noctua fan so that we can know that it is too think and go with something slimmer .

Is that the one you have? The only one that is slimmer than that that I saw was I think 7 mm.
