Hi.

I replaces my cooling paste in my CPU, and GPU, and now my PC wont boot.
When i connect the power and turn it on, all fans starts spinning, the rbg light starts, the graphics card get a liltle white light. So far so good.
But nothing els happens. The pwr led is in (orange) but boot light, CPU light, dram light does not turn on.
I removed every componenent, exept CPU. Same thing. Plugged one ram Block in slot a2. Same story. Tester with the ram block in every socket. Same story. Tried with both ram blocks in a2 and b2. Same story. Checked the pins in the CPU socket, they look good, checked the connect plates om the CPU, they are clean and shiny. I cant figure out what went wrong. The PC worked this Morningside.

My build is

MB Asus ROG Strix Z370-F

Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000 DC 8Gb (2 of Them)

CPU Intel Core i5-8600K Coffee Lake CPU - 3.6 GHz

GPU ASUS GeForce GTX 970 Strix - 4GB GDDR5

P HDD Samsung EVO 850 250 GB.

CPU cooling Cooler Master MasterAir MA610P

What do you think i wrong?
As i said. It worked this morning. I just replaced the cooling paste.

Solution
Its fixed. The CPU was busted, and in its faulty starte, allso busted my MB. Both have been replaced and everything is working.

Tanks for all the help guys.

You can't POST without a RAM. Stick ONE in and make sure it clicks nicely on both sides.
Also, connect the CPU Fan to the CPU_FAN header just in case the mobo has some failsafe built in.

If by any chance you loosed or bent something that you didn't notice while taking out giant the heatsink, see if this help.

If you read the first post, you would notice that i have been booting with ram in the sockets, and in several different combos.
Ram, No ram the result is the exact same. One solid red CPU indicator.
My gear now is, that my CPU is dead or my MB.
Been building computers for several years (first build was in 1998) so i know all basic troubleshoting. Problem is, the usual does not work.
And now the fans wont start but rbg, and pwr led is on.
Freaking computers. A simple cooling paste replacement...

I thought you took out the RAMs completely after few tries and systems don't POST without them. If you have tried all troubleshooting combinations, then the last one remains: Use another CPU on your system or test your CPU on another motherboard
I'm pretty sure thermal paste can't cause problems as long as they are not conductive (most are not). The only way non-conductive ones can cause a problem is by getting into the socket and blocking contact with CPU.

Cant test any. No one i know have Z370 MB,
Gonna make a rma on MB and CPU Now. My old MB for a socket 1150 so cant test om that.
I Hope someone got a solution, before i turn it in.
Feeling a bit sad. Just started a there week vacation and now i cant game.

Take it to a repair shop. Test it there. They usually have all kind of parts and equipment for testing purposes.

make sue the eps cable is locked in. if not the cpu wont post. try another test power supply. if not check that none of the cpu paste is on the cpu pins under the cpu. also when repasting a cpu you can pull it off the mb pins and or crush the lid if the cooler on to tight.
