I put together my new build today, which is built on a z790p, the issue is, when I boot it up and it tries to boot from USB to install windows it gets to the spinning circle of dots and then freezes.

I've tested the USB on another pc and it works fine to get in to the wizard.

I've followed some trouble shooting videos of changing OS type in the bios to UEFI setting and secure boot mode to standard but no avail.

Anyone got any ideas?

It doesn't seem like there's necessarily a hardware fault with your new setup so the only thing I can think of that you may not have done would be to minimize what's plugged in for the setup attempt. Disconnect any storage that isn't going to be your boot drive, peripherals which aren't kb/m, PCIe cards which may be connected, and if your CPU has an IGP pull the GPU as well. Usually OS/boot type are to blame for these types of issues, but you've already crossed that bridge.

Here's something you can check: Asus bioses have a quirk where the Raid mode is Enabled as a default in the bios. When you boot, go into the bios, if you are in Advanced mode press F7 and go into the Easy mode. Look in the center of the screen where it says Intel Rapid Storage Technology and if its Enabled, click to disable it. Then try proceeding with your installation.

Tried some more bits this morning.

Tried with a second gpu that was confirmed working as of yesterday morning and same issue.

Tried running on integrated graphics, doesn't work at all just says no hdmi signal.

Above leads me to believe it's the mobo as unsure why integrated graphics would just refuse to work at all otherwise.

@dwd999, I do remember seeing the rapid thing but can't for the life of me remember what it was set to so I will go have a look.
