ASUS Z87 Deluxe NIC not working

I am running Hyper-V Server 2012 R2, and I can not get the Intel I217V NIC drivers to install/work.

I have Googled it, and as far as I can tell it's because ASUS has some sort of restriction for running that motherboard as a part of a server. But it seems that I can manipulate the .inf file to work with my system.

However I can not get this to work.

I have tried to edit the .inf file and run it with the pnputil -i -a <nameof>.inf as well as running the installer, but no luck.

Quite frankly, I don't undertsand the content of the .inf file I have to change and therefore I am not able to tell if I'm editing things relevant for my Z87-deluxe motherboard.

Can anyone help me?

with the intel network drivers get the newest driver from intel web page not asus. it wont have the asus installer crap built in. in the bios make sure the port on and you installed the intel chipset drivers and mei drivers first and rebooted.

Ok, now I'm away from home for christmas. I'll make sure to check the BIOS again if the port is active, and also download the drivers from Intel directly.
