Asus Z87 Deluxe: USB initialization bug

Dear friends, I have a problem with Asus Z87 Deluxe mobo. From time to time, on cold starts or reboots, USB devices, such as a keyboard or a mouse, stop being recognized and are not working. They DO work in UEFI, but do not work in OS. Unplugging and replugging does not help. Only after (several!) reboots they might start working again. Full USB initialization in UEFI is enabled.

I see many similar threads on the web involving Asus Z87 series. I feel this is a bug in Bios. I hope it will be fixed in future releases, but may be meanwhile there is a workaround?

Some system info: BIOS 1205, CPU 4770K, cooling Corsair Hydro 110, OC to 4.4GHz @ 1.21V, Prime and Aida stable for 24H, memory: G.Skill RipJawsZ 2133 (4x8GB). OS: openSUSE 12.3 x86_64 with all updates. The problem was encountered with Win 8.1 also.

Try connecting the keyboard/mouse to the USB 2.0 ports next to the antenna ports. If still an issue clear the motherboard's UEFI. Once done and at default setting is detection still an issue?

I've loaded the defaults in bios (F5), thereby eliminating OC, plugged the keyboard and mouse to rear USB 2.0 ports, only to find out the problem still remains. The mouse (wireless Logitech M705) is not working (after several cold starts and random port changes it may start working again, till the next reboot). lsusb gives:

It is interesting that if I connect a second, wired USB mouse (MS Habu), it works, while the wireless does not.

It seems that the most reproducible problem with wireless Logitech mouse detection might be a Linux kernel issue, see https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43631

However, I see three problems with device detection that might be BIOS-related.

1. USB wired keyboard was once not detected under Win 8.1 and twice under openSUSE 12.3.
2. USB Logitech webcam is constantly lost after reboot. Re-pluggin helps in both cases, but nevertheless this is not correct.
3. Realtec internet controller is detected not on every reboot. Intel controller is OK.
Problems 2) and 3) were observed under several Linux distributions, including openSUSE 12.3, Ubuntu 13.04, Fedora 19, etc.

As a quick workaround, disabling Intel xHCI in UEFI resolves these problems. Thanks to overclockers.ru resource for the solution. The problem with USB 3 is confirmed to exist on other Asus Z87 boards, too. For ASUS to recreate the issue users will need to list complete and detailed system specs and settings including model and revision numbers and of the affected USB components. Also which version of Windows being used and if up to date. Listing operating systems other than Win7 or 8 is probably not necessary as they are not officially supported by the motherboard.

Sorry posting so late after the last thread post.

One solution I've found on the internet if using Windows 8 is going to ASUS' website and replacing the USB drivers that Microsoft's Windows 8 installed with ASUS' own 1st party USB drivers.

Does anybody know if ASUS has delivered a new BIOS that fixes this issue ???

If yes, what is the Bios version that fixes it ?
