Hello! Recently bought new hardware for my computer.

Current specs:
Asus Z97-A
Intel core i5 4670K
coolmaster silentpro 700w
2x8 corsair vengeance pro series 1866mhz (cmy16gx3m2a1866c9r)

gtx 970 gigabyte g1 gaming.

The problem I'm having is that the boot device led is lit, no matter what I do. I've tried without my hdd too. (used different ports) My hdd are about 4 years old, still SATA hdds. The hdds worked well with my old setup, so they should be working. I doubt that the hdds are the problem.

I can't somehow get bios to load. I've tried different keyboards and different ports with no success. The numlock gets lit, but can't be disabled likewise with caps lock, cant enable it. Tried powering off and pressing rapidly del or f2, even holding del in after pressing reset.

Checked that every PSU cords are connected, tried booting without gfx card using the board DVI port. I haven't tried using the HDMI cable. I still get the monitor to show the asus loading screen (press f2 or del to enter bios) But from there the computer just seems to get stuck. When I tried using the force bios startup, it seemed like it did load, but then the vga led is lit and the screen is black. But I'm still unsure if the bios was loaded or not.

I also tried taking the CPU out and putting it in again, applying a new paste. This didn't seem to help at all. (though someone mentioned that it helped for them)

I'm running out of ideas and I don't have a pc speaker, so that I could check the beeps.

I'm really clueless what the problem is. Maybe I have gotten a bad mobo?

Solution
Hi, Try clearing the CMOS (unplug the power cord and remove the CMOS battery for a minute). Put back the battery and start the board with only one RAM stick installed, HDD, keyboard and mouse (try using regular keyboard). Monitor connected to the onboard.

I have the Z97-K, same thing here. Using the ASUS boot setting software doesn't work. Clearing the CMOS doesn't work. The only that works is turning off the power supply, removing my ASUS nVidia graphics card (to get at the battery), removing the battery, putting the battery back in, re-installing the AUSA NVidia graphics card. Turning the power back on. Then booting up, pressing the delete key. Same problem with the 24xx BIOS & same with the 25xx BIOS. Going to try the 26xx BIOS next. What a real pain this is!
