I was set on getting the asus maximus vii hero, but they were out of stock everywhere besides amazon but its like $500 on amazon for some reason. Anyway, i've just bought this mobo and i'd like to know if I made a good decision. Mostly going to be gaming with my pc, some decent renders and stuff like that.

Yeah thats a great motherboard it should perform every bit as well as the maximus, the average overclocks aren't even that different between them. I personally think all those ROG boards are overpriced and unnecessary anyways.

Thanks for the reply. And yeah, i'm not that big of an overclocker so that doesn't matter too much for me.

Then yeah you absolutely dont need a maximus it would be pointless, you would never use any of the features that make that board cost so much. The Z97 A is a great board. I also like the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 in that price range, msi seems to have really steeped it up with their z97 haswell and z170 skylake motherboards.

If you dont plan to overclock then your best choice would be a xeon 1231v3 cpu, its basically a i7 without integrated graphics so its a bit cheaper than the i7 and about 20 dollars more than the 4690k, it should perform better than the 4690k in the majority of games at stock clocks and will do a lot better in rendering.

I'll most likely oc in the future but as for right now, just going to keep it stock. Also already bought all my parts so I guess i'll just have to see how well everything performs myself. Thanks for the help
