there is a board from asus called 'Asus z97 Pro Gamer' it suppose to be a budget board but with a good amount of features from hero . You have to think about all those features if you are really will use them or not .

hey,

i had the same problem a few weeks back when i was getting my build together.

I thought about: z97-a, hero, UD3H, UD5h, Z97-sli, UD7H, extreme4, extreme6, extreme9, x99-boards and so on.

In the end i opted for the hero because it doenst have things i dont need ( wifi a second ethernet, etc. ) so i'm not throwing away money.
Instead it used the money to get me premium components for the things i do need (onboard audio, etc ).
And yes, you pay some money for the brand, which is not a bad thing per se.

Thing is, this board has premium components, really good software ( if i ever wanna oc i know i'm golden with this board ) and it's very popular with enthousiast gamers, so i know i will find a lot of forums and help if i ever need it.

So like they stated above, if you get the cash, then by all means, splash. hero will not dissapoint you

i said the same thing first.
I won't overclock, but after a lot of research i changed my mind.

I might oc in the future because it offers a loooot of added FPS for a little extra money.
I also like to have the very best components just to make sure my mobo won't die on me in 3 years.
The really good onboard audio from the hero convinced me in the end.

So i decided to spend a little more to avoid frustrations that might appear in a year or 2.

Do you really need the hero, most likely not, but if you change your mind in a year about oc you will be happy with the better mobo.

It's up to you

thanks a lot man :D

Claiming that CPU overclocking ads ALOT of FPS is a bit of a stretch. In a lot of years it can add some performance, but nothing huge. It is more for a hobby than it is for a real tangible performance gain. For example, my i5 3570k is overclocked from 3.4 to 4.5 and I have seen no difference in anything, including benchmarks. 1-3fps at best.

Unless he is doing custom water loop maximum overclocking, the Z97-A will overclock the same as the Hero for all intents and purposes.

hey, i was talking about overclocking in general. oc the cpu and gpu and memory will add a fair amount of fps. and, this is personal, i like to oc and keep some headroom so i know im on the very safe side. hero will always be more stable and therefore safer then the -A. at least i hope so, otherwise ive wasted some money
