Is there any reason to spend 50 euros more on Z97-A compared to Z97M-Plus? I'm not going for SLI so don't really need that extra PCIe slot. Anything I'm missing out?

Asus Z97-A: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97A/specifications/
Asus Z97M-Plus: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97MPLUS/specifications/

Found a few more differences.

Audio:
Z97M-Plus ALC887
Z97-A ALC892

Fan connectors:
Z97M-Plus 2 x Chassis Fan connector(s) (2 x 4 -pin)
Z97-A 4 x Chassis Fan connector(s) (4 x 4 -pin)

So the case I have has 5 fans 3 exhaust and 2 intake, I'd probably not use the 2 top exhaust fans and just use 2 intake in the front and 1 exhaust in the back since hot air tends to rise.

But the Z97M-Plus only has 2 fan connectors... so ummm don't know what to do. I guess I'd have to use 1 intake and 1 exhaust unless there is another way to connect the other fans?

Both are good boards Z97-A is an ATX board and comes with SLI support where as the Z97M Plus is a micro ATX board and doesn't supports SLI.http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/compare/asus-motherboard-z97a%2Casus-motherboard-z97mplus/
So i would vote for the Z97-A because its ATX board and if you are interested in games and want a SLI/CF in future then Z97-A would be a good choice.

You can always connect extra fans directly to the PSU if you run out of fan headers.
