Asus Z97-E MOTHERBOARD USB 3.0 connector 20-1 pin

I bought a thing that plugs into the 20-1 pin USB 3.0 connector on the motherboard that gives me two additional USB ports at 3.0 speed. They worked great until the USB port on the left stopped working. The one on the right still works.

I bought a new thing and the left USB port is broken while the right one works. Looks like an issue with the motherboard?

Any help please? Thanks.

well, the fact i bought two identical things that has the same identical problem means the problem isnt likely because of the thing. It's got to be the motherboard somehow. Thx for reply tho

Is there a chance that this adapter card would give you the port function back, without much trouble?

You will need one free PCIe - X1 slot free, of course.
