Asus Z97 Max. Hero VII new DDR3 RAM not recognized

When I first bought this board I ran into dollar issues and kind of cheaped out on the RAM aspect. Now in my career I'm doing a lot of data analysis and it'd help to have a PC that's more suited to handling large Excel data sets. One of the first things I'm doing is upgrading my ram from
DDR3 1333 Kingston 9905403-447 .A00LF x4
to
DDR3 2133 G.Skill Sniper (PC3 17000) F3-2133C10D-16GSR

I pulled the sticks out and put the new sticks in, it shows the 16GB of memory from the the two slots (I looked up them going into the A2/B2 on the mobo).

When I pull up the ROG screen it shows the RAM in there as G.Skill 8192MB 1333MHz but the CAS and other timings show up matching what should be 2133.

I've been digging around now for a bit and cannot find out why this is, ideas? Suggestions? Feedback?

After doing the math on this ... It seems like I have to run on XMP to get the 2133 stated speed. I was thinking I should get 2133 and then could OC with XMP. I thought wrong. :(
