CPU Fan error! Press F1 to enter setup

I have the above error happen now and then after a shutdown. I have the Noctua NH-U12 instead of the stock CPU fan. I was worried I had a bad part or something hooked up wrong.

But my husband gets this error occasionally as well. I installed this same fan on my husband's new motherboard which is the ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK2 motherboard. He has same error sometimes.

I saw below closed thread and am somewhat relieved. Is this error only because I did not use the stock CPU fan? Is there a way other than disabling that notification to stop the notification? I wouldn't want to disable it in case I did have a problem with my CPU fan. I don't know how to disable anyway.

Depending on your mobo, you can turn it off in the bios. Or what wou can do is plug a cable into the cpu fan connector on your mobo (even if it doesnt have a real fan attached to it). When it happens to me i have a lot of parts in hand so i just change it but u can fix it the way i just mentionned as well. Or you can plug any fan in that cpu fan connector on your mobo.

Sorry but I don't understand when you say "I can plug any fan in the cpu fan connector". If I don't plug my CPU Fan into the CPU fan connector, my fan on my CPU won't run. How does that solve my problem?
Mu CPUs - on both computers - are working fine. Its just this error we're getting.
