ASUS z97 Pro 00 code please help

Unfortunately, upgraded my R9 280X tonight to a GTX 970. Well, plugged it in, turned back on and heard a pop inside case. Short, fried . . . I don't know. Now the motherboard will light up, but code says "00." No video out of the integrated slot or the graphics card. However, the fan on the card and chip runs.

Is my motherboard fried? Bad CPU? Took the card out (hope it's not gone) and still reads 00. No video won't post. Help please I'm new to all this.

Q Code 00 can mean cpu cannot be detected but also make make sure the eps 12V cable is plugged in and seated properly into the board.

Could also be a bad power supply.

Thanks. Plugs are seated well. Would the power supply still come on and light board if bad? Fan on PSU runs.
