Asus z97 pro usb 3.0 port not working

i need serious help guys. Two usb 3.0 ports that are just below usb 2.0 port on my Asus z97 pro are not working. I don't know what's wrong. need help

I have installed all the drivers. Let me clear things up a bit
There are total 6 usb ports. 4 of them are usb 3.0 and two of them are usb 2.0. All ports works other than two "usb 3.0" ports

Out of the 4 3.0, 2 are Intel and 2 are Asmedia. Check in device manager if the Asmedia ones are listed and in BIOS if the controller is enabled.

i tried to install Asmedia usb 3.0 drivers but i got this error "The Asmedia ASM104x USB 3.0 Host Controller was not found"
the ones that are not working are those on top
the bottom ones works just fine

Intel xHCI Mode is set to smart auto
ECHI Hand-off is enabled
and all ports are enabled in usb single port control

In Advanced Menu, Onboard Devices Configuration, ASMedia USB 3.0 Controller. Check if Enabled.

Then you should be able to install the driver.

It's the Asmedia USB Controller Driver V2.0.8.1 for Windows 7/8/8.1 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL) driver.

Then it might be a problem with the controller.
Ignore it or try RMA-ing the board.

Did you finally get a new board? Is it working properly? I have the same problem as you and I afraid that if get a new mobo will have the same problem, cause asmedia sucks.

Not really. They wanted me to send them the board first so they could check it first and try to resolve the problem. That sould have taken so long. But it didn't wanted to live without gaming really so i compromised there and instead ended up buyin a pci usb 3 hub

I returned my defective board and got a new one... And guess... this one is defective too!!!! Asus probably did something really wrong with the circuit of this board. The strange thing is that I connected an asmedia usb 3 port with the hub of my monitor (Dell 2715H) and after shut down I noticed that my pc rebooted (???) when I tried to switch off the monitor!!! After that I observed that the usb controller sometimes works and sometimes doesn't work and I don't know why!!! So now I say to everybody that if you want all of your usb ports to work, and don't observe strange phenomena don't buy this board... Shame on you Asus... 🙁

Look at what I marked in the picture above, I do not know if other motherboards are like that or it is just Asus.

i've had the same issue, i connected my phone to the usb 3.0 port and it didn't detect it. i've tried all the ports on the back and none of the worked. only one worked which was the front usb 3.0.
i've unistalled the 2 drivers which were asmedia and some other usb driver which i can remember at the moment. anyways i rebooted my pc the usb works. i've had small glitches with Asus... i dont know what other board i could buy? 🙁

Not sure if this will help but here it is.

In the BIOS - there's a setting for the PCI slots. Yes - I said PCI Slots. There's one that talks something about using PCI 2 and disabling PCI 3... I don't know exactly where that setting is but it's probably in the PCI config area. Anyway - one thing I found was that I possibly changed some setting where it talked about:
PCIEX1_2 & PCIEX1_3
The setting here would seem to enable one and disable the other.

Weird thing is some how I did that - and what resulted was that the USB 3 slots in back of the motherboard would not work at all. The one connected to the front case did.
I can't find any reference to this online at the moment. But USB is 'routed' through PCI... Stuff lol

Maybe checking that would help. There is an explanation as to what it does while in the BIOS.

I guess not but however I just came across some other issues which have been bugging me for quite some time now,

1. My UEFI bios gets locked up for no apparent reasons sometimes, the diagrams and parameters go all N/A. My bios ver is 2205.

2. After I reseated my system's SSD(was working perfectly) just to check on its serial number for product registration, the bios no longer detects it on Boot Priority list but it's detected in Boot Menu, I have to get into BIOS and select the ssd in Boot Menu every time I want to use my computer otherwise I'll be faced with the no bootable disk black screen as if I haven't installed an OS, what's happened?
