Hi Guys

Computer was running fine for almost ayear, sent it to sleep one night and the next day won't turn on, it was showing a message saying Updating Bios, dot not turn off system to prevent bootup failure (I did not updated my bios , i dont know why i had that message), disconnected, connected again; same,

What I did (for about 4 days) :

Opened my case to see a solid red CPU_LED light, disconnected, cd rom, ssd, all the sata ports, ran the board outside the case to discard something shorting it and RED LIGHT, removed PSU, cleared CMOS, cleared CLRRTC jumpers, waited up and the system came back.

Booted up Windows , everything fine, shut down the pc and got stuck on CPU_LED light again, so I removed PSU, cleared CMOS, cleared CLRRTC jumpers, waited up and the system came back again and this time i'd updated the bios to the lastest version, booted up windows shut down the system and got stuck on CPU_LED again.

Did the same just this time I booted up a SSD with Ubuntu but it didn't made any diference.

Removed my strix GTX950 to try with a zotac gt610 with no luck

I would appreciate any guidance on if should i change the mobo or the cpu? I can't narrow it down.

My system:
Intel Core i7-4790 a 3.6Ghz
Asus SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1
Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB
Kingston 8GB DDR3 DIMM PC3-10600

thanks

59 c idle temp is very hot. What is your room temperature at? I would look at your CPU cooler. Make sure it is clean of dust and that the fan is spinning properly. Also make sure it is seated properly and that one of the pins did not pop out. If you have thermal grease I would pull the cooler off, clean off the old stuff and reapply new grease.

"I accidentastupidly bent 2 pins 1 year ago but i was able to rectify then and have the system up and running with no issues. It can be related."

Yes it could. You might want to consider getting a new board. You might ask for an RMA and see what they say.
I believe when the CPU LED lights up it is a problem relating to the CPU, either it is overheating or has unstable voltage. Is this system overclocked? What are your CPU temps under a stress test such as Prime 95 or AIDA 64?

hey thank you very much for your anwer

When I get past POST, I and I get to tthe bios or the OS, it reach 59C° , the system is not OC, it was working fine for exactly a year, im thinking something may happen to the board in a faulty way. but now that you said CPU I'm not sure which one of them should I change, i dont want to buy a new mobo and a new cpu 🙁
