ASUS Z97 w/ Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM

Hey guys,

I went on a little shopping spree to upgrade the internals of my desktop. I ordered a new mobo: ASUS Maximus VII Hero Z97:

Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM:

However, I read up on some of the specifics of the RAM AFTER I had made the purchase (not smart, I know) that this particular model of RAM is geared toward the Z77 chipset, so the Z97 would not be able to make use of the 2400Mhz of the RAM?

I was just looking for some clarification on the matter.

The RAM may be optimized a certain way, but there's no reason you shouldn't be able to run it at it's full rated OC speed. What CPU are you running?

It'll be the Core i7 4790K. Windows 8.1 OS.
(All speculative at the moment because I've yet to actually get anything installed.)

Alright thanks, I just wanted to make sure before I got too into the new build and have it not work properly.

De nada. Don't forget - you'll need to enable the XMP profile in BIOS in order for your DRAM to run at OC speed rather than the default 1333MHz.

I just wanted to drop in and say thanks!
After I got everything installed, I hopped in the BIOS and clocked the RAM at it's rated 2400Mhz, works like a charm.
