Asus Z97-WS Memory Issue.

Hey fellas. So I purchased this motherboard in March from Newegg, I've had no issues with it ever.

Anyway, I'm building a desk to house my computer components. Much like the red harbringer desk. I pulled my AIO Cooler Master Nepton 240M Out yesterday. I needed to map out the demensions for some fan slots in the wood, We'll I Came back home after working. Put it back in, and at first the computer would turn on for a few seconds and then turn back off. Probably turning on for 2 seconds at a time. I knew something was wrong. So I left it for a few minutes and tried it again. Now it turns on completely. But the LED display on the bottom of the board says "0055" I looked the code up in my manual, And it says a memory issue. I tried my RAM in different ports. Tried them seperately. Also tried old RAM, But I still got the same issue. I removed all the components and put in my old build to test the RAM and make sure it wasn't any of the sticks. And it worked fine. Nothing is wrong with the RAM so which leads me to believe it's the board. I guess I'm here to see if there is anything I can do. Of course I'd prefer for it not to be broken. Because I really don't want to spend another 200 dollars. If there is anything you guys think you can help me with. It would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance. I'll check back often.

Do you have the latest BIOS? Do you have XMP enabled? Have you applied an over clock of any kind? Do you have any other memory sticks to test in your new set up? Try resetting the BIOS to default. Totally shut down the the power supply and totally drain any remaining power by pressing the main power button while no grid power is connected. Disconnect any and all wires and replug everything. Try removing the CPU and the graphics card and etc. In other words reassemble like a new build.

One more, make sure you haven't accidentally grounded and /or shorted anything like the mobo etc.

Make sure all the sticks lock in by themselves, may want to try resetting the CMOS. Make sure you didn't loosen the 8 or the 24pin mobo power connector

I can't get into my bios, The computer turns on. Like normal, but the screens don't come on. The RAM works in my build now, So it isn't my RAM. I can't get into my BIOS to change anything. and I don't believe I have XMP enabled. But I will try it again. Hopefully it works.

One more, make sure you haven't accidentally grounded and /or shorted anything like the mobo etc.

What's a way to know if I shorted something? I wore mymy static band when I put the AIO cooler back in. But I didn't when I took it out.

Try a single stick at a time, might also try the on board iGPU mobo video outputs, BIOS may have reset

Just because ram sticks work on one board doesn't guarantee they will work on any board. Grounding by something touching something else metal to metal somewhere. Like a standoff installed wrong, or many other things. Check if the memory is on ASUS's approved memory for your board. Try calling ASUS. Their cust. service is quite good.

My startup slowness is gone as it takes a couple of days for Windows to settle as it goes through a self healing thing like memory training and other issues.. It always took 3 days for 7 to settle after a major change and I learned that from MS themselves.

Well, sorry I didn't come on here earlier. But I took everything out. And put the motherboard back in that was having issues. And... It worked. I'm not sure what happened or o may of done. But I've been playing the new StarCraft for about 5 hours straight with no issues. The XMP switch was flipped. My radiator may of flipped it on the other day when I was reinstalling it. But I'm very glad I didn't short my board. That's what I was most afraid of. Normally I'm always careful but I was still scared. Regardless. It works. And I'm very happy. But XMP is like an overclock for your RAM no? Would flipping it on cause the board to register an error?

Not sure what ya mean by slowness. The X99 machine takes 39 sec. from blue light to fully signed on but that is with a finger print reader. the i7 2600 guy takes 31 sec. and the Lenovo laptop takes 21 secs. W 10 here. BIOS, software and hardware differences. No two machines perform exactly the same. Startup time is unimportant and isn't a metric that means anything unless it won't boot at all.

Yes to the XMP switch. If ya want to enable XMP do it in the BIOS and leave the board alone.
