Yeah I was gonna slap a 750 duron on one these boards.

I heard many great thangs about both. But I heard the asus doesn't have the jumperless bios thang like Abit does. I do love the easy of doing that.

But I took a look at the boards. I noticed the Asus has more room space for sticky a big heatsink.

Also heard rumours that Asus might update the bios where you can switching these settings.

Right Now I'm leaning towards the AbitRaid.

Hey what is the big differnce between the Abit raid and Non raid. If I choose the Abit should i get raid or save cash an get the non raid?

I have built a few systems with these boards they both perform well; you can’t go wrong with either of them. The Abit is a better board if you can utilize the raid ports, it will enable you to have up to 8 ide devices, four of them can be striped together enabling for faster read/writes. If you need the speed and storage capacity from the hdd go with the abit raid Abit raid contains a SCSI type bios setup utility for mirroring or striping your drives, very simple to set up, tom has an article about it.

I have both boards and the a7v has given me an abundance of grief over the past, but it seems to have stabilized now that I put in bios 1005a. Tom's has some m/b recommendations, but so does www.anandtech.com. Check all the facts carefully before you buy.

One of the "issues" with many of the new boards is the lack of spare irq's. An old socket 7 board has more irq's than these new boards.

Checkout these two articles:

<A HREF="http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1374" target="_new">http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1374</A>

I would put more emphasis on the AnandTech article simply because it's newer. The boards tested are two months more mature, and give you a better idea of what you will be buying now.
