Question at 180$, is the rtx 3050 8gb a good upgrade from a gtx 1070?

Thats a bit of a down grade not any upgrade at all.
I'd tend to agree. My 4GB laptop version (I believe it's the 65W TGP version) is roughly equal to slightly less/more than the dead GTX1070 laptop it replaced. Not something I'd spend money on as an upgrade, my case was a cheap replacement. I suppose they'd get DLSS support but that's certainly not worth $180 on its own.

Intel a 750 and a580 ATM are like 200-160 depending if your CPU supports Sam or resize bar

Rx 6600 isn't bad either in that price all draw similar power
cpu should support that, but with all the driver issues ive heard, ima wait til battlemage to hop on intel gpus. as for the rx 6600, thats another gpu ive looked at but i was trying to find some competitive options before i bought it.

In raw rendering, they are about the same. 3050 does not do raytracing well, so you can't use that as a point in it's favor, but, you do get DLSS, which will give a bit of a performance boost, but I still wouldn't get a 3050 as an upgrade from a 1070. You should be looking at a 3060 12gb as a minimum for an upgrade from a 1070. Don't bother with the 8gb 3060, either, as it is barely faster than the 3050.
