First of all unsure if I am posting in the right section so I apologise but, I have suddenly ran into an issue with my xlr mic in the sense that it is no longer sending a signal to my interface.

I was in Discord the other night talking until I heard people in my call saying that I cut out, I was looking in my discord settings/ windows sound setting to see if my audio device had changed or levels had been lowered but nothing everything looked correct. I managed to get the microphone working briefly before I logged off for the night by pushing the gain knob down but when going to use the mic today it is straight up not working.

I unfortunately do not have a spare mic or cable to test, but I do have a cable arriving in the next day or 2 just to see if my cable just died on me.

I tried reinstalling my interfaces driver and even tried it on my laptop, yet I still can’t get any audio input.

The only thing that I can think of that could have <Mod Edit> up my audio hardware is my computer randomly freezing and crashing the other day but I kind of doubt that as with more testing my output for the interface works and the 6.35mm audio jack on the xlr port still takes an input it is only the xlr input that doesn’t work. I only get static through the XLR port but that I only when phantom power is enabled. I also ensure that my gain was all the way up and it still doesn't make a difference.

System Setup

Mic – Audio Technica AT2040

Interface – Behringer U-Phoria UM2

PC – Custom Built, MSI MPG GAMING B550, Ryzen 5600, NZXT 650W PSU, RX6600xt, 16GB DDR4 3200MHZ

Laptop – MacBook Pro 13inch 2019

Any help is appreciated, as I don’t know what else I can do to troubleshoot this issue.

A spare cable would be the first thing you should try. Then try the mic on another platform entirely. Another interface as well. If the same issue persists on multiple platforms, then the issue is the mic.
