Hello I got a laptop

1920x1080 res
i5 6300HQ
950M 4GB
8GB RAM

My questions are:

1) What would be the right settings for me to play this game with considering I dont want to overheat and overload the laptop.
2) Can I play the game in 60FPS with these settings?

If not its not a problem for me. Its more important not to overheat and overload the laptop and have good healthy settings rather than 60FPS. I usually FPS LIMIT every game I play at 30FPS to not overheat and overload.

Though I d love to know the right resolution and settings for me to play it with.

Thank you

Hi,

Don't be so afraid of overheating your laptop, but it is very good that you keep the temperatures in mind.

Here is a site where you can check if your hardware is up to it: http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=1855&game=ArmA%20III

But, since you have a laptop with its limited graphics, You really don't need to go for 6o FPS. The minimum is 40 FPS while you should be able to decreasing the graphics details.

Remember that in multiplayer mode, it will come down more to the cpu than anything else on a laptop and therefore it will need to speed up - the result will be more heat and more cpu-fan.

And run the game as powerful that this laptop can do...

Thank you very much I got a Cooler Master Notepal but I was wondering which one do you have and should I get a better one than this Cooler Master Notepal XL it has a fan RPM of 1000 is this good

By the way I dont want to run this game as powerful as this laptop can actually because I really need this laptop for school too and I cant afford to lose it.

No need. Just use the one you have.
Don't worry about overheat of the processor; Intel i5 6300HQ has inbuilt protection for that - as well as all modern processors.

Meaning: if the temp going above a certain limit, the processor will start throttling and decrease its frequency, the cores will run more slowly to prevent overheating damage.
If the heat goes up to much - the computer will just switch off.

Which is a common problem with laptops: Dust in the air channel and the heatsink.
Never use a laptop on the bed or a sofa, always keep it on a flat surface so the air can flow freely through.
But once in a while, dust will suck up and clog the ventilation channels, just blow it away with a canned air.

If you wait to long then you must take it apart to clean. Just do it once every second month or so (if you have cat & dogs - more often).

I know its baseless and unproven but I have the experience that once you overload the CPU it will not work as efficiently as it did in the beginning. So it basically gets worse when you overload it with a heavy game, thats why I dont push the limit because whence pushing the limits to lets say Ultra graphics I think the CPU will make lots of more noise at idle and dont perform normally at every situation like before especially at idle it will be hotter. My experience though it might differ with others.

Hi,
Your assumption or believes is baseless.

First: You simple just can't overload a CPU with instructions or workloads- its psychically impossible, with todays technology.

Second: If a CPU once gets overheated and therefore will slow down - once it has reached its "safe temp" it will automatically run att full speed. Nothing will happen in a short term of consumer usage life span - there are however military, space and heavy station that are important to this - but never because of of the cpu has gone down for a consumer like us!

Third: You don't have the graphics power to run 4K games on this computer, but even so - you can't destroy anything just because you have played a "hefty game".

Use it and have as much fun as you can!

Thank you! I dropped it off my mind because I once lost a PC who was working well for 10 years because I used Ultra settings on a pc just to see it it was 1FPS a futile attempt but just to see the graphics. After such actions this PC that went 10 years went 100% usage at a simple movie and totally got wrecked. But anyway thanks for explaining I wish you a good day.

You do realize tat You will need to make a backup/copy of the hard-drive?
Very important! At least your school work and private files, photos.

It is not a question when a hard drive goes down - it's a question when!!!
It could happen tomorrow, it could happen in five years from now.

But make sure you regularly take a backup on another media.

Thats a good idea but thankfully the work I get now is periodic and gete deleter when its done. I would do that though when Im working on something very important, all other data is also on the personal school website

Weird thing is im not even using this laptop very frequently lol

Hi again my friend.

Is an FPS limit at 30 FPS healthy for the computer?
FPS has nothing to do with the computer.
FPS stands for Frames / Per / Second and in television for example, there are mostly showing their movies at 30 ffps.

Actually: the eye can't even detect a frame rate faster than 24fps - a truth with modification.
Please see this How many frames per second can the human eye see?

The only way that fps counts in the computer world is; when you enter a fast shooter game, because then everything will happens so fast, that in every frame you could miss something - like being shot.
But never the less, FPS can't do anything to the computer or graphics - its the other way around: The computer and its graphic will determ what fps it can handle, depending of the game or s/w in charge and its graphics settings.

Best regards from Sweden :)
