Original problem was a rig with whatever parts i'd been using for 3 years and a gtx 680 card. I logged into battlenet to play some hearthstone and wow, and the screen goes black. I reboot and it shows the bios loading but when windows loads the screen goes black again. I take it all apart, clean out the dust, log into safe mode (that worked) redo the drivers and do all the normal stuff you basically do for an issue like this. Doesn't fix anything. I have a backup card that's a gtx 650 ti boost, and 2 older 6800 radeon cards or whatever, I put all 3 of the extra cards in one at a time to test to see if the problem is my card broke. None of them will even show the bios. I make sure the bios and chipset are updated and do all the normal things with that and still nothing.

Now i decide it might be parts because there's no way 4 video cards broke. I replace the hard drive, and motherboard, due to getting a asus 99x-a I upgrade to a intel 7 5260 or whatever processor, 16 gig of ddr4 ram, a new solidstate drive and a new power supply. Put everything in a new case and put the original gtx 680 in that. Install windows 7 home premium, adjust bios, everything goes smooth. The base vga drivers load through my gtx 680, i download all appropriate windows patches and use the mobo disk to supply the original drivers that come with it then update the ones that need updating. Do all the normal start up your rig things and then download the nvidia driver again and bang, black screen once again. I swap out to the 650 and again it won't even load the bios, same with the other 2 cards. What the heck am i doing wrong 🙁 After dumping $1600 in parts i'm almost beyond frustrated at this point. (I'd post stats/etc but i'm at work right now and don't have access to anything that's why i didn't do this to start, also the internet at work is complete trash, reminds me of aol back in 98)

with the 680 in i can get to the bios. If I delete the nvidia drivers i can even completely log into windows with the default vga drivers that just auto install. With any of the other 3 cards I don't ever see anything turning the computer on, no bios, no windows login. On a side note it definitely isn't a power problem, my original thermaltake 750 psu was enough, I upgraded to a antec 850 bronze rated one with high reviews and it still won't go past what i've said.

Did you connect the additional GPU power cables?

This looks like a complex problem, i'm offering to remote in your PC if you like. We can use skype for talking. Other than that i can't really tell whats wrong unless i see some of your settings or active software.

I used both power ports on the gtx 680, the 650 and other 2 cards only use 1 and when i tested them i did plug them all in. Buying a new video card would make the entire computer new at this point also. This is just so damn strange, it's just unfathomable to me that all 4 of my video cards are broken.

Yeah, it's just that it's 2 completely different computers by this point, different Windows installs, and 4 seperate cards. I'm just trying to think of a part that hasn't changed, which is why i'm asking about the monitor. Monitor EDID getting confused when communicating with GPU somehow??

Monitor hasn't changed and also data on your drives. For example some rootkits reside in HDDs MBR and even if you format the HDD it can still survive.

These things were a lot easier to diagnose when PCs actually beeped. If you have a pc speaker hook it up to the motherboard. Maybe the PC boots fine with the other cards but the monitor is acting up. Other than that i strongly suggest you check for some viruses with TDSSKiller and ESET Online scanner - > don't use other shit!

sorry, at work so it's hard to do some of hte normal troubleshooting things over here. At this point the harddrive is completely different also, I was using just a 1 terabyte wd drive, now i'm on the samsung 500 gig evo ssd drive. The only things that aren't brand new at this point are the 4 video cards and the monitor.

Anyone see any issues with this? I played with it a bit last night and got it to let me change resolution while in safe mode finally (it wasn't letting me touch it before). When booting out of safe mode now in windows 7 it goes through the bios display into showing the windows logo then prompty goes black right at the end of it just before you enter your login password.
