Negatory, good buddy. ATA33 can run on 40 conductor, but the 66 and 100 need the 80 conductor. You'll get a few kps if you use the 80c for a ata33 drive though.....
I'm having problems right now getting my 80c Cable to be reciognized,It's in there, but every time I boot the BIOS says 80 conductor cable not found, and now it's operating at ATA/33 which is unacceptable, any suggestions?
I've come across two types of 80c cables: cheap and expensive. The cheap ones are more stiff (shuddap preverts), and the slightly more expensive ones are quite a bit more flexible. I've destroyed/cut one cheap one when I was rounding it, but never a glitch with the 5 or so 'better quality' ones i've rounded. The prices are $5 and $7 on the internet.
Yeah, I've tried 2 different ones, the one that came with the Hard Drive, and the one that came with the motherboard, both seemed not to be cheap, but maybe I'll just buy a retail one and see what happens. Thanks
