Hello every one,
I have a question regarding the ATA/SATA to USB adaptors, like this one
I've noticed that the AC Adaptors in these kind of cheap adaptors are rather low quality and am worried about damaging my HDD or other hardware when using it. My motherboard doesn't have IDE slot, so I'd like to ask:
Can you use this kind of adaptors by plugging the power from the molex inside the PC, and use the ATA -> USB adapter to connect it to the computer? Is it any safer than using the attached AC Adaptor? It may sound a bit uncomfortable, but if it's safer for my setup - no problem for me.
I'm asking this because the last SATA/ATA adapter I've had fried my motherboard. But I guess it was the AC Adaptors fault, but even a low quality ATA -> USB cable should't do any harm to the PC if it's powered from a reliable source, like PC's good quality PSU, right?
