Athalon vs Duron?

Sorry, I'm fairly new in the world of computer hardware, so I'll be asking some pretty ignorant questions for the next few weeks. :)
Anyways, what's the difference between an Athalon processor and a Duron?

athlon socketa (t-bird) l2 cache 256k full cpu clock
duron socket a l2 cahce 64k full cpu clock
athlon slot a l2 chache of 512 @ 2/5,1/3 or 1/2 cpu clock

all have 128k l1 cache

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!

you forgot that some oem slot a athlons are built with tbird cores so they have the same cache specs as the socket a version. the down side is that they only work in slot a boards that have the amd northbridge chip.

who is more foolish...
the fool, or the fool that takes his advice?

hi
duron is younger brother of athlon, just like celeron is to pentium-iii

functionally they are similar, but duron has somewhat smaller second level cache, 64k against 256k/512k of athlon.
just like celeron has 128k against p3's 256/512k. but celeron also is inferior to p3 on speed front - it has only 66 MHz bus while P3 has 100 MHz.
