athlon 64 3.2 temp?

what sort of temp should an athlon 64 3.2 idle at in an avarage pc with no OC

34 to 37c. Mine does that, depending on room temp, with a 250mhz overclock. That's according to mbm5 and my bios. Do I believe it? Not for one second. My hsf shows up at 42 on an infrared t-stat. Point is, you cant trust the sensor. If you have the Msi K8N board, you need to install the new bios to get it to show lower, but it's all bs.

well on my frieds pc its ideling at 59c and one bench mark puts it up to 70 to me this sound very high for a new machine. he is using mbm5 as you say it could be the sensors

On what board? Many Socket 754 boards are not supported by mbm5. You can make it work, if you know what sensor the board is using.
