Well, I've got an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice core), and I thought it should be running at 1.8 GHz, but CPU-Z says it running at 1.1 GHz. Is this correct, or is something horrubly wrong?

The multiplier is set too low. Did you try to overclock? For some reason, it appears the multiplier has been changed. Go into the bios and set it to default levels.

Look at the voltage, it's Cool N Quiet. But normally, CNQ brings it down to 4x Multiplier IIRC.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I never use cool n quiet and I didn't even realize it dropped the speed down like that. I learned something new today ..

Ah, so it's AMD Cool 'N Quiet. I forgot I had installed that. Thanks. I was getting paranoid that I'd have to buy a new CPU.

I assume the speed goes back to normal when under load, correct?

It's supposed to go back up, but sometimes it won't. I recommend turning it off, it's pointless unless you're paying $10 per kilowatt hour.

Well, i uninstaled Cool 'N Quiet, and my CPU shot up to ~2 gHz (I overclocked just a bit). Now it idles at ~25 degrees Celcius, and that's fine.

Thanks for your responses. :)
