Athlon II 630 x4 vs phenom II 720 x3

I am trying to decide if I should get the athlon II with no L3 and 4 cores or the Phenom II with only 3 cores but 6mb l3 cache I am going to be using my computer for mostly gaming

For current games the L3 cache will give you more performance than the extra core will - most games barely use 2 cores and performance with additional cores does not scale well - while the cache will make the cores that are used perform better - SO I'd go with the X3 720 (plus if you get lucky like I did - you might even get a chip with a good 4th core that can be unlocked !)

Phenom II X3 will be better for gaming, the L3 cache is important for that task.

Get a AMD PHENOM II X4 955 Black Edition with 6mb L3 cache...
