Athlon X4 760k + GPU?

I am deciding between getting either the R9 270x or the GTX 760 for Christmas. I have the Athlon X4 760k (not going to overclock it) and I was wondering which graphics card would have the better performance and balance when paired with it.

Hmm...I think I would go with a 760 in this case looking at the prices.

what about a 280 that seems the same price as the 270 and it's cheaper then the 760 but performs better.
